Manipur State Council - All India Students’ Federation (MSC/AISF) on Thursday appealed to authorities concerned to open up educational institutions across the state and lift the mobile internet ban.
Speaking to the media at MSC/AISF office in Imphal, MSC/AISF joint secretary Leishemba Meitei further urged the central and state government to resolve the 19-month long crisis which has inflicted pain and misery to thousands in Manipur.
“Banning the internet will not bring any resolution to the crisis. Shutting down in the name of preventing protest will only hinder the academic career of students,” he said.
As such, he demanded the authorities to initiate other means of improving the law and order in Manipur and create a free education zone.
“The Class 10 and 12 examinations are right on the doorstep and therefore, such disturbances will only lead to problems,” he said.
He also condemned the heinous murder of the six hostages in Jiribam and demanded a thorough probe into their murder and to punish the culprits.
