In view of the shortage of food grains and price rise of essential commodities following the unrest in Manipur, deputy commissioner, Tamenglong, L Angshim Dangshawa on Saturday announced the introduction of ‘Open Market Sale Scheme’ (OMSS) of rice which would be sold at Rs 32 per kg.
He informed that the Open Market Sale Scheme will be starting from June 5 at every sub division in order to redress the hardships faced by people due to recent violence.
Meanwhile, Tamenglong superintendent of police Anupam announced that anyone in possession of arms stolen from state armouries should be returned to the nearest police station.
She said that since the violence began in Manipur, several arms and ammunition have been stolen from state armouries.
She appealed to the general public to surrender them before the nearest police station or any other place intimating to the local police station. If anyone is found illegally possessing the arms, action against them would be taken as per law, she said.
Expressing her sincere gratitude to the general public of Tamenglong for maintaining peace, she urged for cooperation in restoring normalcy to the state of Manipur.
