One killed, another injured in attack

The JAC cautioned movement along with CSOs if their demand is not met.

A 65-year-old man was killed and another was injured following an attack by ssuspected Kuki militants at Ngarouthel Leikai of Heirok Part III under Heirok police station in Thoubal district around 9:00 pm on Wednesday.

The deceased victim was identified as Ningthoujam Ramesh Singh alias Rishang, 65, son of N Thambalngou from Tourangbam Leikai of Heirok Part III and the injured victim as Ningthoujam Kala, 65, son of N Koklei.

Ramesh sustained 30 bullet injuries on his upper-right abdominal region while Kala sustained bullet injuries on his right thigh region and is undergoing treatment at Shija Hospital, stated sources.

The sources said that soon after the gunshot, Ramesh’s son Robin rushed to the spot and rushed his father to District Hospital Thoubal where he was given first aid. Ramesh was then rushed to Shija Hospital but he succumbed to his injuries on the way, the sources added.

Meanwhile, the locals of Heirok held a meeting condemning the incident and ‘JAC against the brutal killing of Ningthoujam Ramesh and seriously injured by unidentified miscreants using arms’ was formed.

JAC convenor Maibam Kenedy, said that considering the crisis in the state, the body will be received and demanded the authorities for a probe to identify the miscreants by June 12.

The JAC cautioned movement along with CSOs if their demand is not met. The JAC submitted a memorandum for their demands to the chief minister through Thoubal DC and SP.
