One drug dealer was arrested and a huge amount of drugs, including three kg of suspected opium, was seized from his possession in Churachandpur district, Manipur on Wednesday, sources said.
According to the Churachandpur police, the arrested person has been identified as one Henkholen Lupheng, 30, son of late Thangngam Lupheng of M Semoul in Churachandpur.
The arrest took place during a search operation conducted after the police received information at 11.30 am on Wednesday that one Henkholen Lupheng was selling huge quantity of opium at his residence, the police said.
Following the tipoff, a team of CCP-PS led by Inspector N Thangzamuan, OC-CCP PS along with escorts accompanied by SI Haolensang Singson rushed to the location and a requisition was made to the district magistrate, Churachandpur to depute one EM to be present during the search and seizure procedure.
Accordingly, SDM, Thanlon, Lalthanzam Fimate arrived at the spot and a house search was conducted in his presence.
During the search, three everyday packets containing suspected Opium weighing 1 (one) kg each making it 3 (three) kg; 6.5 kg of opium seeds; two mobile phones and one digital weighing machine were recovered from the house of Henkholen, police said.
Henkholen was arrested from his residence at 1:30 pm and the recovered items were seized at 1:40 pm. The seized suspected opium was covered with a white cloth and packed/sealed by using facsimile in the presence of SDM/Thanlon and independent witness, the police said.
A case hsa been registered for further investigation, the police added.
