A total of 8,812 bottles of Codeine Phosphate cough syrup were seized and one person arrsted on Friday by a team of Thoubal Police Commando led by additional SP (Ops) Thoubal O Wangkhomba under the supervision of SP Thoubal Jogeshchandra Haobijam.
According to sources, upon receiving an input regarding transport of contrabands at Lilong Athoukhong area, a team of Thoubal Police commando led by additional SP (Ops) Thoubal O Wangkhomba under the supervision of SP Thoubal Jogeshchandra Haobijam conducted a house search at the residence of one Makakmayum Baharulislam, 26, son of Abdul Salam of Athoukhong Mamang Leikai.
It added that after due formalities, the team searched a truck bearing registration number MN04 5738 loaded with sand, which was found parked at his residence. Upon searching the vehicle, the team found 25 sacks concealed inside the sand, inside of which 8,812 bottles of Codeine Phosphate cough syrup were found, it stated.
It mentioned that the team arrested Makakmayum Baharulislam and seized the cough syrup bottles along with the truck. It stated that the seized items were handed over to Lilong Police Station. A case had been registered for further necessary action, it added.
