Volunteers of Manipur University National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) unit staged a peaceful protest at the university’s main gate on September 30, demanding swift justice for the inhumane execution of Linthoinganbi and Hemanjit by suspected Kuki miscreants.
Speaking to the media on the sidelines, NSUI unit president Ningthoujam Mahanta condemned the brutal murder and the failure of the state government to punish the culprits even after months of investigation.
The government has failed to present any leads even though the students had been missing for more than two months, he added.
He informed that NSUI Manipur University unit would extend all possible support and aid to actions taken by the JAC.
“The unit will support all movements and decisions taken by the victims’ JAC and extend the same to the movements and protests initiated by the people,” he said.
He further condemned the heavy handed riot preventive measures by armed forces against unarmed protestors.
“Some have sustained injuries which could result in life-long problems. Such actions should be stopped; NSUI wil also push demands to stop such inhumane protest control tactics,” he said.
