On the occasion of the 42nd Raising Day of the NSCN/GPRN, chairman and president of NSCN-K (Yung Aung), Yung Aung extended his greetings to all Nagas and the people of ‘Western South East Asia (WESEA)’ region on Monday.

In his message, Yung Aung paid tributes to the founding fathers, great leaders, national workers and brave Naga patriots “who sacrificed their precious lives for the national cause.” “We also remember and pray for all our revolutionary comrades who are in prisons and all those injured and maimed for the freedom cause,” he stated.

He further extended best wishes to “all the free people of the world who share their solidarity and prayers for the Nagas in their struggle for freedom.”

On this day NSCN/GPRN re-dedicate and re-pledge to the national oath to honor the moral and political responsibility towards the people on both sides of the imposed boundary and will continue to stand firm on its commitment, he stated. “We are encouraged and inspired by the overwhelming physical, moral and prayer support from all Nagas,” he added.

“Throughout the course of our struggle, thousands and thousands of Nagas from every tribe; from every corner answered the nation's call with great courage and selflessness,” he said. These brave Naga patriots stood shoulder to shoulder, fought and died together — determined to be totally free no matter how difficult it may be or how long it took. This fight for freedom has caused unimaginable loss of lives and properties and left deep scars and unforgettable memories on those still alive today, he stated.

In the aftermath of the Shillong accord of 1975 and the failure of the NNC, It was on this day the 31 of January 1980, NSCN/GPRN was formed to assume the mantle and responsibility of the Naga national movement and to salvage from further destruction, he recalled.

He further stated that both India and Myanmar are completely convinced they can succeed to subdue the Nagas by force and keep denying our freedom, but Nagas will never yield to their deception. No power can extinguish our dream to be a free people, he added.

Tyranny has no heart and knows no truth; it is just pure greed for power and savagery. “Such is the brutality of the Indian occupation over the Naga country for the last seven decades. On this day our thoughts and prayers are with the innocent Naga victims of the indiscriminate killings at Mon district on December 4, 2021 by the Indian forces,” he stated.

The whole Naga country is in a deep state of shock and rage and there is widespread demand for AFSPA to be removed immediately. Instead, India has tightened its grip by extending the draconian law by another six months by totally disregarding and ignoring the cry for justice of the Nagas, he added.

He stated that this appalling and unchecked human rights violation in the Naga country is an attack on the International Human Rights movement and challenged the core principles of the United Nation. A time has come for the International community to take moral and humanitarian responsibility to end the decades-long occupation and allow the Naga people to determine their own future as enshrine in the International law, he added.

Till today India lacked the political will to solve the Naga issue. India's successive governments failed to live up to its commitment, he stated.  The Naga pro-talk political groups are also trapped in their own clamour and disunity and have lost the skill of manoeuvring the Indian bureaucrats. They have lost their political wisdom the day they give up on sovereignty in exchange for the so-called Naga solution, he stated. “These Naga groups had deep conflicting, personal and political interests which makes our issue more complicated and confusing to the people. The government of India has provided them with only one option — a one way ticket. They can get in but there is no way out,” he added.

“Despite these harsh realities, Most Nagas, irrespective of tribes and artificial borders, still have high hopes for our common future — a future free from domination and assimilation. Our occupiers too know that Nagas have all the ingredients to be a free nation, yet if Nagas fail in our joint commitment today then tomorrow we will remain in a quandary waiting to be obliterated forever,” he added.
