A felicitation cum birthday anniversary celebration was held on Wednesday at Rongdai Common Ground in Rongdai Village in Nungba Subdivision to honor Salem Yang Gangmei, member of the Collective Leadership of the NSCN (I-M).
This grand event was organized by the Nungba Area Village Authority Association (NAVAA).
In his address to the large gathering, Salem Yang Gangmei emphasised the importance of cultural preservation, noting that a community’s identity is intrinsically linked to its culture.
He expressed gratitude to Almighty God for guiding him thus far and for allowing him to serve the Naga people to the best of his abilities. “God is the ultimate protector and sustainer of life”, he said.
Gangmei extended his solidarity to former Naga leaders who inspired and guided him, acknowledging their influence in shaping his journey.
He also thanked his spiritual mentors, both past and present, for their blessings and prayers.
He reaffirmed his commitment to working selflessly for the Naga people and humanity, expressing appreciation to the gathering for their unwavering support.
The celebration featured a series of traditional performances, including Baengngun Muanmei, Guailungthu Kakmei, and Suaihiam Ravsuai, along with presentations of Ramvruan Lu and Haansiang Lam. Other highlights included the witnessing of Ho Hoing and traditional drum beating, special song presentations, a felicitation hour, and other ceremonial activities.
The event saw the attendance of NSCN/GPRN leaders and members from Zeilad Region, the CHQ Hebron, various Rongmei community organisations, student groups, and people from all walks of life.
KC Savio, president of the Rongmei Naga Council Manipur (RNCM), extended his best wishes and congratulated the collective leadership on behalf of the Rongmei people for the new responsibilities entrusted by the NSCN/GPRN government.
