NPP withdraws support to Biren-led Manipur government

We strongly feel that the Manipur state government under the leadership of N Biren Singh has completely failed to resolve the crisis and restore normalcy, NPP national president Conrad K Sangma stated in a letter addressed to BJP national president.

Stating that the Manipur government under Chief Minister N Biren Singh has failed, the National People’s Party (NPP) has withdrawn their support to the BJP government in the state.

In a letter addressed to Jagat Prakash Nadda, president, Bharatiya Janata Party, New Delhi, NPP national president Conrad K Sangma conveyed the party’s deep concern over the prevailing law and order situation in the State of Manipur.

“In the last few days, we have seen the situation further deteriorate where many more innocent lives have been lost and people in the state are going through immense suffering,” the NPP said, adding “We strongly feel that the Manipur state government under the leadership of N Biren Singh has completely failed to resolve the crisis and restore normalcy.”

“Keeping the current situation in mind, the National People’s Party has decided to withdraw its support to the Biren Singh-led government in the state of Manipur, with immediate effect,” Conrad Sangma stated.

NPP national vice president Y Joykumar reaffirmed the party decision while talking to mediapersons on Sunday at his residence at Uripok Naoremthong.

He said, NPP had all along been speaking in the interests of Manipur public and the decision to withdraw support from the present government led by N Biren Singh was taken in public interest.

Notably, none of the seven party MLAs were present at the said press briefing at Naoremthong.
