Just two days after the formation of the new BJP-led government of Manipur, the National People’s Party (NPP) on Wednesday extended its support to the BJP-led government as an alliance partner of NEDA and NDA.
The letter of support was submitted to the governor of Manipur by the MLAs of NPP on Wednesday. With BJP getting support from the NPP, the only opposition party left in the state is INC with its five MLAs.
Earlier, JD-U with six MLAs, NPF with five MLAs, KPA with two MLAs and two independent MLAs had extended their support to the BJP in the formation of the new government.
Earlier, Chief Minister N Biren after collecting his election winning certificate had told the media that the BJP is unlikely to go together with the NPP.
Manipur BJP president A Sharda Devi during an interview with the Imphal Free Press had earlier expressed dissatisfaction with NPP for allegedly causing unrest during the five years’ tenure of the coalition government led by BJP in Manipur.
“The BJP is unlikely to make any further alliance with the NPP, ” she had said.
