The Naga People’s Front (NPF) on Monday shortlisted 10 candidates to be given with the party’s ticket for the forthcoming 12th Manipur State Assembly Election.
Although there was no official announcement from the party in the state nor its head office in Kohima, Nagaland, a widely circulated document following a meeting at the NPF Central Office, Kohima revealed that the Working Committee of the NPF had decided to contest in 10 Assembly Constituencies in Manipur and thus shortlisted 10 candidates.
As for the shortlisted candidates, Langhu Paulhring Anal was chosen for 41-Chandel (ST); D Korungthang Maring, who left the Congress and joined the NPF, was chosen for 42-Tengnoupal (ST); Leishiyo Keishing for 43-Phungyar (ST); Ram Muivah for 44-Ukhrul (ST); Khashim Vashum for 45-Chingai (ST); Khoho Siile Antony for 47-Karong (ST); Losii Dikho for 48-Mao (ST); M Francis Ngajokpa for 49-Tadubi; Awangbow Newmai for 52-Tamei (ST) and Khangthuanang Panmei for 53-Tamenglong (ST).
In the current Biren-led BJP government, NPF is an alliance with four MLAs. However, there is no news nor any confirmation of pre-poll alliance between the two at the time of filing of this report.
