The CSAT and VACC had called a total shutdown in Tamenglong district headquarters from 6 am to 8 am on December 15 against the alleged non-payment of job card wages and material components under MGNREGS scheme.

“The total shutdown in Tamenglong is a spontaneous reaction of registered job card holders on the state government’s failure to pay the due wages and material components under MGNREGS. The state government should understand the sentiments of the job card holders and pay their due wages and material components before Christmas,” the forum stated.

It appealed to the state government to pay the due wages and material components under MGNREGS before Christmas. It warned that there will be a series of agitations if the government failed to do so.
