In an effort to restore peace in the region, locals of Thangmeiband, under the aegis of Thangmeiband Sinam Leikai Meira Paibi staged a protest at Sinam Leikai on Wednesday, and announced a restriction on the entry of central forces at Cheirao Ching in Imphal.
The protesters expressed their concerns about the prevailing situation and announced a restriction on the entry of central forces at Cheirao Ching without prior permission from the concerned police station's Officer-in-Charge and the local authorities.
During the protest, advisor of the Meira Paibi, Khangembam Bilasini, while speaking to the media at the protest site, alleged that a convoy of RAF personnel was seen climbing Cheirao Ching on Tuesday afternoon, reportedly carrying food items including liquor.
She informed that the RAF personnel retreated only after the intervention of the OC of the concerned police station and the local authorities.

Bilasini questioned the purpose of the RAF personnel's presence, questioning whether they were deployed to conduct a picnic in Cheirao Ching.
Further expressing dissatisfaction with the central government's response to the unrest in the region, the advisor highlighted the perceived lack of action against illegal immigrants who have been demanding a homeland in Manipur, which is an integral part of India.
She criticised the silence of the Centre despite the loss of numerous lives and the displacement of many families due to the ongoing unrest.
This silence, according to her, indicates the central government's support for the illegal immigrants.
Given the prevailing situation, the protesters urged all indigenous and ethnic groups in Manipur to unite and fight against the external aggression posed by illegal immigrants.
They demanded the withdrawal of the Assam Rifles, the abrogation of the SoO agreement, the eradication of narco-terrorists, and the restoration of peace in the region.
