No drone zone declared at G20 venues in Imphal East

Manipur has tightened security measures ahead of G20 Summit meeting to be held in Imphal.

Imphal East district magistrate office has declared a ‘No Drone Zone’ and ‘Red Zone’ at the event venues and routes in Imphal East regarding the G20 Summit to be held on February 17-18.

An order issued by the Imphal East district magistrate Khumanthem Diana Devi stated that the Imphal East SP vide letter A/1/1/SP-IE/2023(G20) dated February 12 has requested the Imphal East DC to declare a ‘No Drone Zone’ or ‘Red Zone’ at all the G20 event venues and routes in Imphal East.

The City Convention Centre, Govindajee Temple, Classic Grande, Marjing Polo Statue complex, Marjing Polo Ground, Heingang Hill and the surrounding areas in Imphal East district are notified as ‘No Fly Zone for Drone and UAV’ from 5 pm of February 16 till the time of departure on February 19, it stated. 

The route from North AOC leading to Ipudhou Marjing Polo Statue at Heingang, which will be used for G20 Summit is also notified as a ‘No Fly Zone for Drone and UAV’, it mentioned.

It also stated that all unattended vehicles and construction materials piled up, if any along the route shall be cleared by the owners responsible by 10 am on February 15. 

Failure to comply with the notification will result in the initiation of necessary action by the SP of Imphal East and Imphal West, it added.
