The Manipur government has removed relaxation in curfew and total curfew has been clamped back in all valley and Kuki-dominated hill districts on Wednesday, July 19, official sources said.
The Kuki-dominated hill districts in the state include Kangpokpi and Churachandpur districts, while the valley districts include Imphal East, Imphal West, Thoubal and Bishnupur.
Earlier on Tuesday, the district administrations of Imphal East and Imphal West districts announced in separate orders that day curfew in the two districts would remain relaxed from 5 am to 6 pm, while curfew relaxation was withdrawn from areas in Keishampat Junction to Tiddim Ground areas.
However, in view of the continuing unrest in the state, total curfew has been reinforced in all valley and Kuki-dominated hill districts on Wednesday.
Indefinite curfew has been imposed in all vulnerable districts in the state since May 3, 7 pm, after the communal clash broke out in the state. Day curfew was lifted in all districts to enable the public to purchase essential items and considering the law and order situation in the state.
However, movement of persons belonging to essential services such as Health, Electricity, PHED, Schools and Colleges, Municipality, Press and Electronic media, functioning of courts, and to and fro movement of flight passengers to airport remain exempted from the imposition of curfew, the order stated.
