'No arms were used by BJYM volunteers'

The allegation against BJYM by the Laikot Area Youth Organisation is baseless, and it was propagated to defame the BJYM, Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha Imphal Central district president Prem Keshtrimayum said.

Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) Imphal Central district president Prem Keshtrimayum on Thursday clarified that no arms were used by BJYM volunteers during any drive conducted in connection with drugs.

Prem told the media at the state BJP office located at Nityaipat Chuthek that a team of BJYM volunteers along with a state police personnel conducted a drive as a part of ‘War on Drugs 2.0’ at Laikot village, Kangpokpi district on Friday. During the drive, one drug peddler was detained and from his disclosure, the BJYM volunteers along with state police tried to nab a drug peddler.

When the team reached K Orphanage village, the detainee tried to escape from their custody towards a nearby hill. “Two gunshots were heard and the detainee was found with bullet injury when they rushed to the spot,” he added.

During the entire drive conducted by BJYM volunteers in connection with ‘war on drugs 2.0’, the volunteers never used any sort of arms, he asserted. The allegation against BJYM by the Laikot Area Youth Organisation is baseless, and it was propagated to defame the BJYM, he added.

He is ready to be put behind bars, if the allegation made by Laikot Area Youth Organisation happened to be true, he added.
