The Parliamentary Board of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday appointed Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman as observer and Union Law and Justice Minister Kiren Rijiju as co-observer for the election of the Legislature Party leader in Manipur.
Meanwhile the BJP Manipur had served a legal notice to a local TV channel for circulation of a news which mentioned that there are faction among the BJP in the run for chief minister's post.
The news circulated by the local TV channel is totally baseless, said vice-president of BJP Manipur Ch Chidananda in a video release.
He said, the news mentioned names of BJP state leaders A Sharda, N Biren, Th Biswajit, Y Khemchand, Govindas Kh, RK Ranjan among others. The news stated that they had started camping by dividing into two factions in the run for the chief minister's post, he added
"The news item seems like a conspiracy to create misunderstanding among party leaders," said Chidananda.
He informed that the legal notice served to the local TV channel asked to provide the source of the fake news and sought public apology to BJP and the people of Manipur.
If the TV channel failed to comply to their legal notice, necessary legal action will be taken agaisnt the channel, he cautioned. The vice-president once again clarified that there is no such thing as faction among the party.
All the 32 MLAs are fully dedicated to the party and are ready to accept the decision of its central leaders in the appointment of the leader of the legislative party, he added.
