The National Investigation Agency (NIA) will handle the case relating to the killing of a 17-year-old student Seigunlal Misao as the Manipur government has decided to hand over the case to NIA to expedite justice.
''The state government has decided to hand over the investigation of Case FIR No 11(3) 2023 of Gamnom Sapermeina Police Station to the National Investigation Agency for expeditious investigation and early disposal of the case in the public interest,'' a statement issued by the state police department stated.
Seigunlal Misao, who was appearing in the Class-12 exam conducted by COHSEM, was shot dead by two motorcycle-borne unidentified gunmen near his home on March 26. Later, a rebel group called National Revolutionary Front Manipur accused the student of being a drug peddler while taking responsibility for the killing.
