Three teenagers were injured on June 21 when an SUV exploded around 7 pm in Kwakta. A part of the bridge where the vehicle was parked was also severely damaged in the explosion.

As the case was handed over to NIA, Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) had questioned why only the bomb blast case of June 21 was promptly handed over to NIA while many cases of higher magnitude involving many organisations remained without investigation.

The case against Seiminlun Gangte was registered suo moto by the NIA on July 19 2023 at New Delhi, stated a release. Investigation of RC 24/2023/NIA/DLI by NIA revealed that Myanmar and Bangladesh based militant groups have entered into a conspiracy with a section of militant leaders in India to indulge in incidents of violence with an intention to drive a wedge between different ethnic groups and to wage war against the Government of India, it mentioned.

For this purpose, the aforementioned leadership have been providing funds to procure arms, ammunition and other types of terrorist hardware which are being sourced both, from across the border, as well as from other terrorist outfits active in North Eastern States of India to stoke the current ethnic strife in Manipur, it stated.

The said accused has been brought to New Delhi after his arrest and will be produced before the Jurisdictional Court, it further stated. Further Investigations in the case are in progress, it added.

As per RC-24/2023/NIA/DLI u/s Sec 120B/121A/122 IPC,1860, & Scc 18/18B/20 UAIPA, 1967, mentioned in a letter addressed to the regional director, Bureau of Civil Aviation Security, Imphal Region, seeking permission of the accused to be transported to Delhi, the case is related to conspiracy by Chin-Kuki-Mizo militant groups with other Chin-Kuki Mizo militants based in Myanmar and Bangladesh to indulge in violence by undertaking terrorist strikes with an intention to create a separate state inhabited by the Chin-Kuku Mizo tribes by carving out territories from India, Bangladesh and Myanmar and to wage a war against Government of India.

It may be recalled that the NIA had earlier arrested one Moirangthem Anand Singh in a case related to a transnational conspiracy by “Myanmar based leadership of terror outfits” to wage a war against the Government of India by exploiting the current ethnic unrest in the State of Manipur. NIA in a release had stated that the case was registered suo-moto by the NIA on July 19, 2023 at New Delhi.
