Communist Party of India (CPI) general secretary D Raja on Tuesday lamented over the immense human suffering caused by the prevailing conflict and stressed the need to take effective measures at the earliest to ease the sufferings of the innocent civilians, who are bearing the brunt of the conflict.
A release from CPI Manipur State Council said that the CPI general secretary visited the relief camps opened at Moirang, Churachandpur and also held talks with leaders of the various communities in a bid to resolve the prevailing issue in the state.
Five CPI leaders, including Rajya Sabha MP Binoy Viswam, noted that the conflict which has reached 119 days has forcibly displaced numerous people and caused suffering and pain on a scale unseen in both the warring communities, it stated.
It also expressed frustration over the alleged failure of the central and the state governments to resolve the issue till date despite public efforts and protests by womenfolk and various civil society organisations of the state to restore peace and normalcy in the state.
It further condemned the postponement of the special Assembly session scheduled to be held on Monday, even with repeated demands by various political parties. It further mentioned that the CPI leaders are making arrangements to meet the Governor, high officials of the state government, CSOs and intellectuals as well.
