To commemorate the National Sports Day, the IGAR (South) on Saturday extended assistance to National Cadet Corps (NCC) Subroto Cup football team of Imphal Group (Sub-Junior Boys Under-14 category) by providing sports kits at a function held at IGAR base at Mantripukhri in Imphal East, stated a release issued by IGAR (South) on Saturday.
The Subroto Mukherjee Sports Education Society conducts the prestigious Subroto Cup Football Tournament every year under the aegis of Air Force Sports Control Board, and it is a unique tournament, wherein only the champion school teams from the states and union territories of India participate, it stated.
It stated that the responsibility to field the NCC Football Team in the Sub-Junior Boys (U-14) category was assigned to NCC Group, Imphal in which 16 NCC cadets were selected.
The 61st Edition of Subroto Cup International Football Tournament - 2022 is scheduled to be conducted at New Delhi from September 6 to October 13 in three age categories, it further stated. The talent of the local youths towards football is the way forward for the future of Indian football, it mentioned.
