The construction and renovation work along the National Highway-2 may be completed within a month if monsoon rains do not affect the work, said NHIDCL officials on Thursday.
A team of media personnel along with NHIDCL officials inspected the construction and renovation work along NH-2 on Thursday.
The officials told the media that the company started the renovation work of removing the potholes along NH-2, which is one of the lifelines of the state, some months ago. However, the renovation work was halted temporarily due to the heavy rainfall in the state. As there is no rainfall in the last few days, the renovation work for fixing the potholes will be resumed with additional machinery, said the officials.
Due to the damage of Irang bridge along Imphal-Jiribam national highway, a large number of goods trucks and other vehicles were diverted along NH-2 and this also gave inconvenience to the renovation work, they informed.
To speed up the renovation of NH-2, the work has been continuing till late night in order to bring good progress. The renovation work will be completed within one month from today, if the rainfall does not affect the work progress, the official added.
