One more accused in the case of a viral video showing two women being paraded naked by a large violent mob was arrested on Friday and the four arrested on Thursday were presented before the Judicial Magistrate First Class, Thoubal on Friday via a video conferencing and have been remanded in police custody for 11 days (till July 31).
Due to the ongoing tensions and unrest surrounding the case, the proceedings were conducted through video conferencing.
According to reliable sources, one of the arrested was identified as one of the two persons seen groping the victims in full public view in the disturbing viral video.

The Investigating Officer (IO) of the case sought 11 days of police custody for the accused to conduct further investigations, as there are still other suspects yet to be apprehended.
On Friday, the police arrested one more accused in connection with the case.
In another case related to the burning of an IPS vehicle in Kwakeithel, Imphal West, five more accused were released on bail by the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal West.
However, the remaining 21 accused were remanded to judicial custody for 15 days. Earlier, four accused persons had been released on bail by the duty magistrate.
Furthermore, in the Lucy Maram murder case, the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal East on Thursday remanded nine arrested accused to judicial custody for a period of 15 days.
