A one-day awareness programme on Mushroom Production Technology conducted at Khabam Maning Leikai, Imphal East on Tuesday proved to be a pivotal moment for local farmers eager to enhance their agricultural practices.
The event, organised by Mobile-based Agro Advisory Services, Manipur (Loumisingi Paojel) in collaboration with Digital India Corporation (DIC), New Delhi, brought together a cohort of farmers keen to delve into the world of mushroom cultivation.
Hijam Thoiba, the field Manager, took the stage to enlighten farmers on various mushroom cultivation techniques and the health benefits of incorporating mushrooms into their practices.
The session also included hands-on demonstrations where Thoiba actively engaged with farmers, guiding them through practical exercises to deepen their understanding.
Nongthombam Guneshwar Singh, a Technical Field Executive from DIC Manipur, highlighted the project’s main goals.
He emphasised its core objective of providing farmers with timely and accurate information and encouraged farmers to actively participate in the Digital India movement by registering for the project.
Accessible through a toll-free number, 1800-102-3141, the platform aims to keep farmers well-informed and engaged in the latest agricultural advancements, he added.
Field Manager Kenny Sarangthem and Field Coordinator Mainul Haque also conducted a demonstration on the usability and benefits of the Farmer m4agri App within the UMANG app, adding a tech-savvy edge to agricultural practices.
The awareness event saw the participation of 21 farmers who expressed gratitude for the valuable insights gained through the program and the digital registration process.
Abhinash Moirangthem, the Principal Investigator of Loumisingi Paojel and assistant professor (Horticulture) at COA, CAU, Imphal, pledged unwavering support to farmers involved in the project sponsored by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.
