The Manipur Students’ Federation (MSF) on Monday demanded disciplinary action against the faculties of Haoreibi Awang UP School under ZEO, Wangoi and Thounaojam Primary School under ZEO Bishnupur Zone IV (B) for allegedly defying their duties.

Speaking to the media at the office of MSF in Imphal West, its vice-president Hijam Roshan said the faculties of both the schools have been reported to have immediately left the schools within a couple of hours of turning up at their respective schools and locking the school gate.

He said the irregularities were found by the volunteers of MSF while inspecting the schools on Monday morning as a part of its “Ekhoi Lairik Ningthina Tamsi” campaign.

"It is unfortunate that the teachers of the two schools defied their duties for some private reason," he said, asking, “What will be the faith of the future pillars if the teachers are not ideal?”

Pointing out that the state has a shortage of 6,945 teachers as informed by the education minister, he said such irresponsible acts of teachers have worsened the education sector of the state.

Drawing the attention of the local MLAs to keep vigilance of all the schools in their respective constituencies instead of focusing only the schools selected under “School Faghathansi” mission and construction of community halls, he appraised all the MLAs to be a part in saving the faith of the future pillars.
