Manipur Peoples’ Front (MPF) and United Manipuri Art’s & Cultural Organisation (UMACO) has expressed heartfelt gratitude to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for recognising Manipuri language as Associate Official Language in four districts of Assam.
MPF also thanked Cabinet Minister For Higher Education, School Education, Tribal Affairs, Ranoj Pegu and MLA, Lakhipur LAC Assam, Kaushik Rai, for their support towards the same, stated a release.
It lauded Assam Government’s decision in the interest of protecting, preserving and promoting the cultural, social, linguistic identity and heritage of the Manipuri people living in Assam.
It also appreciated All Assam Manipuri students’ Union (AAMSU), Manipuri Youth Front of Assam (MYFA) in particular and all other concerned CSOs including the Manipuri Muslim organisations for the dedication and effort to get the demand.
MPF and UMACO jointly organised a meeting presided by MPF president, Yengkhom Upendra and UMACO president Thokchom Ngouba at MPF headquarters in Guwahati regarding the approval given by the Assam Cabinet on Sunday, it mentioned.
