More arms and ammunition recovered in violence-hit Manipur

The Manipur Police Control Room, in a statement, appealed to the people to return and deposit arms, ammunition and explosives to the police or security forces immediately.

A combined team of State Police and Central security forces on Sunday recovered four more arms and five ammunitions during search operations conducted in fringe and vulnerable areas of Imphal West and Bishnupur districts.

The Manipur Police Control Room, in a statement, appealed to the people to return and deposit arms, ammunition and explosives to the police or security forces immediately. It also said that the situation in the state remained normal with sporadic incidents of congregations of protesters.

A total of 124 nakas/checkpoints are installed in different districts of the state, both hill and valley. It also said that police detained 1,217 persons in connection with violations in different districts of the state.

Movement of vehicles on National Highway-37 and National Highway-2 with essential items have been ensured and strict security measures are taken up in all vulnerable locations above providing security convoy in sensitive stretches to ensure free and safe movement of vehicles, it added.

It further appealed to the general public to be aware of false rumours and advised them to clarify any rumour by dialling rumour-free number - 9233522822 of Central Control room.
