In a show of discontentment, womenfolk of Thangmeiband have expressed their dissatisfaction with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's perceived lack of response to the hardships and insecurity faced by the people of Manipur's valley districts due to the continuous threats from suspected militant groups.

These concerns were highlighted during a sit-in protest organised by the Meira Paibi Lups of Thangmeiband at Lamphel Super Market in Imphal West on Monday.

The protest aimed to draw attention to PM Modi's silence during these challenging times, which totally contradict his past demonstrations of concern for Manipur during election campaigns.

Speaking to the media, a representative of Meira Paibi Lup, Kongbrailakpam Shyma Devi, questioned the government's silence when illegal immigrants began attacking Indian citizens, demanding a separate administration.

Pointing out that the people of Manipur are peace-loving people, she said, "If the native are being attacked by illegal immigrants, we have to retaliate”.

In order to safeguard the well-being and security of the people of Manipur, she demanded exercising of NRC at the earliest to identify illegal immigrants and take necessary measures such as deporting them to their hometown.

During the sit-in protest, the participants held up placards conveying messages such as “No separate administration in Manipur,” “No land for illegal immigrants,” "Abolish narco-terrorism from Manipur," and “Implement NRC” among others.
