MLA pension scheme launched in Tamenglong

As per the scheme, the elderly people are entitled to pay Rs 300 after every three months. This pension will continue for five years and it will be sponsored by the MLA from his salary.

Tamenglong MLA Janghemlung Panmei launched MLA pension schemes on Sunday at Rani Market Old Tamenglong with the aim to bring inclusiveness and ensure that every eligible individual enjoys the benefits of the pension scheme.

As per the scheme, the elderly people are entitled to pay Rs 300 after every three months. This pension will continue for five years and it will be sponsored by the MLA from his salary.

On the occasion, MLA Janghemlung Panmei said that the scheme purely intends to help the elderly persons who are not able to get Central and state government pension schemes.

He said that the scheme covers for the old aged, disabled and widows/widowers who are not a beneficiary of state or Central government pension schemes. 

He further said that he would extend to the other villages for those deserving elderly persons at his assembly constituency. He would also extend his level best to provide the Central and state government pension scheme. 

He also sought public support and cooperation for bringing changes in the assembly constituency.

For the first phase, the selected beneficiaries received the scheme through MLA Janghemlung Panmei. Of the 69 beneficiaries, 16 are old aged; 19 disabled and 34 widows/widowers.
