MLA Laishangthem Sushindro, three others file nomination

MLA Susindro filed his nomination from BJP ticket at the office of returning officer Khurai assembly constituency Elangbam Amuthoi Khanganba.

The fifth day of the filing of nominations also witnessed four more candidates, including Khurai assembly constituency MLA Leishangthem Susindro Singh alias Yaima filed their nominations in Imphal East district.

MLA Susindro filed his nomination from BJP ticket at the office of returning officer Khurai assembly constituency Elangbam Amuthoi Khanganba.

Meanwhile, Congress MLA of Lamlai assembly constituency Kshetrimayum Biren who joined the JD-U filed his nomination on Saturday as a JD-U candidate for the coming Assembly Election 2022.

Ksh Biren told the media that JD-U was not given much importance before the selected BJP candidates were announced.  After the candidates were named, many aspirants who had the confidence to win the election joined the JD-U.

“So, I hope that a JD-U led government will come in the year 2022,” he added. He expressed confidence that he will get 20,000 votes from the Lamlai assembly constituency, Ksh Biren said.

Wahengbam Rojit (alias Bullet) of the JD-U filed his nomination from Kshetrigao assembly constituency at the office of the returning officer Subinson Sapam.

Keisham Ningthemjao from andro assembly constituency also filed his nomination at the office of returning officer Karam Uma Devi. He filed with an INC ticket.

Filing of nominations for the first phase of the upcoming Assembly elections to the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly began on February 1. Nomination papers will be received till February 8 and scrutiny of nomination papers will be taken up on February 9. The last date for withdrawal of candidature will be February 11.

The first phase of the two-phase polling for the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly will be held in 38 Assembly Constituencies on February 27, 2022 and in 22 seats in the second phase on March 3. The counting of votes will be held on March 10.
