In a plea for unity and effective governance, Manipur Keithel Nupi Marup (MKNM) on Tuesday appealed to Chief Minister N Biren Singh to prioritise the preservation of Manipur's integrity and fulfil his duties effectively and with unwavering commitment.
With the need for stability and peace in Manipur paramount, the MKNM announced its stand in solidarity with the state's integrity.
Speaking to the media at the Manipur Press Club in Imphal, MKNM general secretary L Mema Devi voiced strong opposition towards the BJP of Mizoram, who recently advocated for President's Rule in Manipur and also the ITLF who echoed this sentiment, threatening non-cooperation with peace talks unless the chief minister is replaced.
Amid the developments, she stressed the urgency of exposing the hidden agendas of these parties and called for a united front among ministers, MLAs, and political parties to address the prevailing issues.
Emphasising that hurling abuses and engaging in political manoeuvring were counterproductive in the current situation, she said the people of Manipur are already familiar with the conduct of past and present governments.
She cautioned against statements or actions that could potentially invite President's Rule in the state, urging political leaders not to debate whether a change in leadership is necessary at this time.
Instead, the general secretary stressed the importance of setting common goals and working collaboratively towards finding a solution.
