A youth who had gone missing since Sunday was found dead in the pond of Lairenjam Water Supply under Nambol Police Station at around 12.50 pm on Wednesday, sources said.
The deceased has been identified as one Toijam Shitaljit ,19, son of T Ahongjao of Kodompoki Mamang Leikai, Imphal West.
According to police, the youth went missing after he had gone out from his home around 7 pm on Sunday. His family had also lodged a report at Nambol Police Station on Monday.
Following the report, the Nambol police had been conducting a search until the body was found from the said pond on Wednesday.
Sources said no external injuries were seen on the body. It has been inspected by a team of State Forensic Science Laboratory and kept at RIMS Mortuary by police for conducting a post mortem, as per sources.
