A booby trap bomb planted by miscreants was found hanging at the gate of one Nongsaibam Sanjit, 35, son of Md Yaima at Yairipok Tulihal Tabokpi in Imphal East on Tuesday.
The booby trap was set by tying pieces of clothes on a powerful Chinese hand grenade and leaving it hanging at the gate. According to police, the bomb was noticed by passersby at around 5. 30 am on Tuesday.
As per sources, N Sanjit is presently working as the managing director of NK Enterprises in New Checkon. On receiving information, a team from Andro Police Station arrived at the spot and took an inspection.

A team of bomb disposal squad from Imphal collected the bomb, and it was safely exploded at the foothill of Ngariyan Ching at 11. 30 am. Andro Police Station has registered a case in connection with the incident.
The motive behind the act has not been ascertained yet while no individuals or groups have claimed responsibility so far.
It may be recalled that miscreants had earlier planted a Chinese hand grenade at Sanjit’s residence located at Yairipok Tulihal Tabokpi in August, 2020.
