Minister Nemcha Kipgen distributes financial assistance to IDPs

Minister Nemcha handed over Rs 1000 each to the IDPs sheltering at the DIET Centre, Leikop relief camp.

Minister Nemcha Kipgen on Sunday distributed financial assistance to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Champhai Sub-Division of Kangpokpi district. The assistance marks the fourth One-Time Assistance from the Government of India, aimed at providing clothing and personal belongings to people in relief camps.

Minister Nemcha handed over Rs 1,000 each to the IDPs sheltering at the DIET Centre, Leikop relief camp.

The distribution event was attended by DC Kangpokpi Mahesh Chaudhari, ADC Kangpokpi Shokhongam Baite, AC to DC Kangpokpi Samuel Misao, SDO Champhai Lamminlal Simte, and other officials.

Over 2,000 IDPs across 11 relief camps in Champhai Sub-Division received financial assistance on Sunday.

Minister Nemcha expressed her heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to the central government for their tireless and benevolent efforts for the well-being of the IDPs in various relief camps. She encouraged the IDPs to use their talents and skills to sustain their livelihoods by availing themselves of various government schemes.

The minister announced plans to arrange a handloom cluster for those interested in weaving and suggested that the district administration open a shop for IDPs to sell their handloom and handicraft products.

Nemcha also motivated the IDPs not to lose hope, assuring them that they would eventually return to normal life. She urged them to be strong in prayer and support each other during these challenging times.

Meanwhile, Minister Nemcha Kipgen, accompanied by DC Kangpokpi, ADC Kangpokpi, and SDO Champhai, visited the nearly completed Pre-Fabricated Houses at Ngahmun village. The district administration officials briefed the minister, informing her that the houses can accommodate around 150 families and will be completed within two to three days.

Minister Nemcha advised the district administration to ensure a clean and hygienic environment in the Prefabricated Houses.
