Minister TA and Hills Letpao Haokip on Saturday annpunced that juvenile correctional home will be constructed in Moreh so that the youth can be free from drugs.
He was speaking at his felicitation by all communities leaders of Moreh in a programme attended by leaders of all communities at Tamil Sangam Moreh on Saturday.
Minister Letpao Haokip acknowledged the public for electing him and assured to work on the will of the public. He also promised to develop all the roads of the town within a short period of 100 days.
The minister further announced that an international hospital will be constructed at Haolenphai village in the near future and urged the people to co-operate in the developmental programmes taken up by the government.
He also said that under the leadership of the chief minister of Manipur, the cabinet minister met with IGAR South and held discussions for free movement of trading items under government procedure. A solid waste management policy will be implemented soon in the town to keep it clean, he said.
At the occasion, leaders from different CSOs attended the programme and submitted a joint memorandum to the minister.
In the memorandum, the CSOs leaders highlighted the need for the improvement of road connectivity in and around Moreh town. They also highlighted the need for good functioning of mobile network connectivity, and proper supply of good drinking water to every household of the border town. They also submitted a memorandum requesting for the construction of an all community variety market at Moreh Ward No VIII.
Traditional gifts were also presented to the minister as a part of the programme.
President Tamil Sangam Moreh V Shekhar, in his speech highlighted the importance of unity in diversity at the border town. He also commented on the importance of keeping a local MLA from the 42 Tengnoupal assembly constituency. Moreh is now able to produce a minister from the soil, he said, highlighting the development of Moreh town in the field of road connectivity, infrastructure development etc.
MCM president M Thoiba stated that after a long wait, the people of the assembly constituency are able to bring out a minister from the town. He thanked the public for electing the minister and said that Letpao Haokip will make all round development in the town.
He also spoke on the alleged disturbances given to the public by Assam Rifles while doing business at the National Highway.He appealed to all the leaders of different communities to remain united and make all round development in the town.
Former ADC chandel chairman Lhukhosei Zou and member ADC chandel Cecelia Chineivah Haokip also attended the programme.
