Kwakeithel Apunba Meira PaibiLup, a conglomerate of 25 Meira Paibi body from four constituencies, has demanded Union home minister Amit Shah to clarify his stance on the abrogation of SoO with Kuki militants.
“Even though the home minister assured to keep the state’s territorial integrity intact, there is suspicion of the intent behind his non-responsive attitude to the demand,” the body added.
Speaking to the media at Kwakeithel Bazar, Imphal, KwakeithelApunba Meira PaibiLup spokeswomen SoubamSobita decried the home minister’s assessment of the crisis in Manipur.
She emphasised the need for proper investigation into the genesis of the whole crisis and stated that the home minister should refrain from making any conclusive remarks before conducting a proper background check.
“We want the authorities to investigate and ascertain what triggered the whole tension, who started it and where it originated from,” she said.
She demanded Amit Shah to disclose his verdict on the crisis and resolve the SoO issue before leaving Manipur.
“We want the home minister to take proper actions against the 10 Kuki MLAs for violating their oath and trying to divide Manipur on communal lines,” she added.
She alleged that chief minister N Biren’s ‘War on drugs’ campaign triggered the people involved in Manipur’s illicit drug business to wage the ongoing narco-terror war on the civilians.
“When the whole globe is trying to preserve the environment, certain groups in Manipur have exhorted the growth of poppy plantations, giving birth to several environmental problems; this is not only a communal crisis but a global crisis as well,” she said.
She continued that conduct and NRC exercise for updating the records would be the only viable solution to resolve the whole crisis in Manipur.
“We also want central forces to be removed from schools and colleges and stationed elsewhere,” she added.
She further demanded the authorities to deploy proper security to all sensitive areas and protect the unarmed villagers from the violent onslaught of Kuki militants.
She further cautioned authorities concerned that the body would resort to whatever means necessary to tackle those striving to disintegrate the territorial integrity and unity of Manipur.
