Regional Institute of Medical sciences(RIMS), Imphal organised a mega tree plantation drive under ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ on Sunday, as part of the ongoing Swachhta Hi Seva 2024 campaign at Mini Football Ground of RIMS.
Speaking on the sideline, director of RIMS professor G Sunil Kumar Sharma emphasised the vital role of tree planting to help transform the institute into a green zone across the state, stated a release.
He also highlighted the institute’s commitment in becoming a plastic free campus, noting that steps to restrict the use of plastic bottles had already been initiated since last year, it mentioned.
G Sunil Kumar encouraged everyone to plant trees and take responsibility for preserving mother earth, stressing that reducing plastic usage is a critical step towards environmental protection. He also urged the student to be proactive in participating in such initiatives, recognising their role as the future custodians of the planet, it stated.
Medical superintendent of RIMS, Deputy Director (administration) , Sub-Dean (academics), faculty members, staff, students, and housekeeping staff from CRED and MSS, Imphal, among others attended the event.
Meanwhile, a swachhta health camp was also organised at Langmeidong Higher Secondary School in Kakching district.
Doctors from multiple departments, including medicine, ENT, eye, surgery, urology, obstetrics and gynaecology, paediatrics, orthopaedics, and dental, provided free medical care to around 150 patients and distributed free medicine.
