Tamenglong district administration on Friday organised Meeyamgi Numit and Hill leaders Day at the auditorium in Mini secretariat at Farmlane in Tamenglong.
Despite the bad weather, the district level officers in Tamenglong set up their stalls to solve public grievances.
Altogether 25 government departments attended the programme but the public turn up was poor due to the isolation and remoteness of the location from district headquarters or bad weather.
Only one application was received from the chairman and secretary association Tamenglong for immediate redressal on common issues.
The association demanded the district administration to supply clean water for human consumption.
In the petition, president of chairman and secretary Association Tamenglong Makiujeiyang Gangmei said that water supply schemes implemented by PHED were poorly monitored and implemented at a slow pace.
Due to the scarcity of water, the people are facing acute shortage of clean drinking water in many wards during the lean season.
He said that the water supplied by PHED is not fit for drinking purposes because of the bad smell and appears to be yellowish in color. Therefore, it is needed to set up a filtration station and distribute the filtered water for consumption, he added.
The association also said that the road of Tamenglong town is extremely limited and dusty, posing a high risk to school going students.
The association requested that the movement of heavily loaded trucks from 7:30 am 9am and from 12 noon-4 pm be checked with proper deployment of state police force.
He also appealed to deploy the police force at various school gates, including Don Bosco high School, Council Junction, Christian grammar English School, among others.
He also requested to sprinkle water along the road from Council Junction to C Centre Khunjao which has become extremely dusty.
