The Meetei-Pangal community residing in Mantripukhri, under the banner of Friends Colony Welfare Association, staged a sit-in-protest on Friday demanding the immediate restoration of peace in Manipur.
With unwavering determination, the protesters expressed their firm stance that the integrity of Manipur cannot be compromised under any circumstances.
Carrying placards bearing messages such as “Stop firing on innocent civilians”, “Manipur stands for diversity and communal harmony”, “Stop divide and rule policy”, and “Manipur Apunbagi Saktam Kaiba Yaroy” among others, the demonstrators conveyed their resolute commitment to preserving the unity and harmony of Manipur.
Furthermore, a heartfelt dua (prayer) for peace was conducted by the protesters, adding a poignant spiritual touch to their cause.
Speaking to the media, general secretary of the association, Amir Khullakpam, urged both the state and central governments to take immediate action in defending the integrity of Manipur and emphasised the need to restore normalcy swiftly, underscoring the urgency of the situation.
