Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on the birth anniversaty of Mahatma Gandhi, Father of the Nation, and India's second prime minister Lal Bahadur Shastri, paid tributes to the great leaders.
"Humble tributes to our Father of the Nation, crusader of non violence, Mahatma Gandhi Ji on this #GandhiJayanti. May his valuable ideals continue to guide us in our journey to serve the people of this great Nation," Biren tweeted.
In another tweet, Biren said: "Remembering India’s second Prime Minister, Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri ji on his Jayanti. A man of great ideals and courage, he will always be an inspiration".
MAHUD Minister Yumnam Khemchand also extended wishes on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti.
“On this auspicious day I appeal to the people of the state to shun violence and follow the path of peace and non-violence as advocated by the Father of the Nation,” the minister said.
The UN General Assembly on June 15, 2007 declared October 2 the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi as the International Day of Non-Violence recognising his non-violence freedom.
He is also known as the “Father of The Nation” and this title was given to him by Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose for his relentless struggles for independence, Khemchand said.
