After the arrest of two persons from Senapati on Thursday with the assistance from Senapati District Police, the same team of Imphal West Police team arrested a mastermind vehicle lifter on Sunday.
The arrested vehicle lifter, identified as one Letgulen Khongsai, 24, is a co-accused and was wanted in case 31(11)2022 LSG-PS u/s 379/34 IPC. Letgulen is considered to be a mastermind behind running the theft operations across Manipur, said a police report.
It is reported that the police team, led by SDPO-Lamphal Rahul Gupta, along with officer-in-charge, Lamphel Police Station, Inspector Sanjoy Meitei, under the supervision of superintendent of police, S Ibomcha Singh, planned and executed an operation late Saturday night.
The police tactfully examined the accused who were arrested on Thursday. Police report stated that on interrogation, the name of Letgulen Khongsai was revealed by the accused as he was the mastermind behind it.
As a follow-up action, the Imphal West Police team on Saturday planned an operation to nab the accused person.
A team led by officer-in-charge, Kangpokpi Police Station, inspector Kh Sunilkumar Singh under overall supervision of superintendent of police, Kangpokpi, Th Vikramjit Singh coordinated with Imphal West police team to arrest the person.
After hectic efforts, at around 11:55 pm of Saturday, the team moved towards the location and arrested the person at around 12:15 am of Sunday from a rented house located at Phumgtil Veng, Ward number 15, Kangpokpi district.
The combined team recovered one Bolero (allegedly stolen) bearing registration number AS01EJ 8670 from the same rented house.
So far, five persons have been arrested and two Bolero vehicles have been seized in connection with the case.
