A massive mass rally was held on Saturday under the aegis of the Joint Students Body, Lamka, in protest against Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s statement in the Parliament blaming ‘infiltrators’, FIR against writers, Scholars and Tribal leaders, and Solicitor General’s remark in the SC on Tribal Martyrs.
The rally started from Lamka Public Ground and ended at the Wall of Remembrances in Tuibong.
The rally was supported by all CSOs including Kuki Inpi Manipur, Zomi Council Steering Committee, Mizo People Convention - Manipur HQ, Hmar Inpui and ITLF.
The organisers also submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister through the DC of Churachandpur.
The rallyists held banners and placards showing their displeasure with some that read, ‘My History, Not your Right’, ‘History is not the prerogative of only the valley people’, ‘Question your own history but not of others just because you don’t know theirs’, etc.
At the Wall of Remembrances, leaders spoke, among others, about the FIRs and of their complaints demanding that the FIRs be withdrawn as it inflicts the fundamental right of those involved. They also spoke about the need to have more unity to achieve their goal of separate administration.
