Farmers in Kakching district, Manipur began harvesting rice on Thursday, with the support of security personnel from Kakching district Police, who were deployed to safeguard peripheral areas of the district.
Notably, many farmers have been unable to continue their work due to repeated attacks by heavily armed Kukis, who have targeted them during the harvesting process.
A combined team of Kakching District security forces and the BSF, under the supervision of Kakching District Police SP Thokchom Vikramjit, had been deployed to ensure the safety of the harvesting process.
The farmers had resumed harvesting at various paddy fields in Tangjeng Khabuk under Sugunu assembly constituency and Serou.
Meanwhile, the security measures have also been implemented in other areas, such as Langmeidong and the Chandel Hill Range, to ensure the safe continuation of rice harvesting.
