Manipuri Women’s Federation (MWF) on Tuesday informed that the federation will organise an event honouring all the 12 valiant mothers who staged the historic nude protest in front of Kangla Fort on July 15, 2004, against the custodial rape and murder of Thangjam Manorama.
The event will be held at MWF Office in Wangkhei Ningthem Pukhri Mapal on June 25, stated a release. It urged the public as well as family members of the 12 mothers to participate in the event.
MWF expressed discontentment that President of Universal Mothers’ Organisation Ima Moirangthem (O) Sarojini Leima who was among the 12 fearless women crusaders was left out during the Anti-Repression Day observation held in 2023.
It lamented that such an act is a grave insult to the brave mother who was among the fearless 12 who spearheaded the protests demanding the removal of Assam Rifles camp from Kangla and termed it as an unethical act.
