Women journalists from Manipur arrived in Imphal on Sunday after a week-long tour to Sikkim during which the Journalist Union of Sikkim in association with Directorate of Information and Public Relation, Sikkim had conducted an interaction program with the team.
During the interaction programme, ideas and thoughts were exchanged between the journos of the states and the journalists from Manipur were also felicitated.
Secretary of Information and Public Relation, Sikkim Sephora Targain praised Manipur for having a good number of women journalists compared to her state.
“In Sikkim, many women are actively involved in administration but very few women are into the field of journalism. It is very nice to see many women in Manipur have joined this profession. I hope they will do it seriously,” she stated while informing that in Sikkim, many women have started pursuing Masters in Mass Communication.
Other dignitaries who attended the function were Director of IPR Sikkim Benu Gurung; President of JUS Bhir Rawat; President of All Manipur Working Journalists’ Union (AMWJU) Wangkhemcha Shyamjai and Treasurer of Indian Journalist Union Ashem Bhakta.
It may be mentioned that the press tour was organised by AMWJU and attended by 19 women journalists along with execution members of AMWJU.
