Apex body of Wabagai Club, CARD, issued a warning on Saturday, threatening to impose a road blockade within three days if authorities fail to repair the deteriorating Wabagai Lamkhai road, which is a part of NH-137(A) connecting Wabagai Lamkhai to Kakching.
Speaking at a press meet, CARD president Huidrom Kishwarjit highlighted that thousands of people use the stretch of the Indo-Burma-Sugnu road. He expressed concern over the high risk of accidents, with several individuals having already been hospitalised.
The situation worsens during the rainy season, and the recent downpours have left the road flooded and even more hazardous.
Despite repeated appeals to the local MLA and the Public Works Department’s executive engineer, no action has been taken to repair the road.
Kishwarjit further warned that if immediate steps are not taken to address the poor condition of Wabagai Lamkhai Mayai Lambi road, the community will proceed with the road blockade.
