Manipur Violence: Clubs under Wangjing Gram Panchayat extend aid

The apex body extended food items and a sum of Rs 10,000 each to the relief centres opened in Sugnu Khongnang Khong relief camp and Sugnu Makha Relief camp.

An apex body of six clubs under the jurisdiction of Wangjing Gram Panchayat extended relief items and financial aid to the displaced people of Sugnu and Serou on Tuesday.

The apex body extended food items and a sum of Rs 10,000 each to the relief centres opened in Sugnu Khongnang Khong relief camp and Sugnu Makha Relief camp.

Pioneer Club Wangjing Hodamba Maning Leikai secretary Naorem Iboyaima said that the six clubs, along with the support and help from the people of Wangjing, donated the items to the camps. He also urged the government to take up steps to conclude the ethnic clash at the earliest.

One Moirangthem Sobita, an inmate in Sugnu Makha Leikai Relief centre, expressed gratitude to the people and also appealed to the government to revive peace and normalcy in the state at the earliest.

The six clubs which took part in extending help are Pioneer Club Wangjing Hodamba Maning, ESWYC Hodamba Mayai, UPSC Hodamba mamang, FUC Wangjing Tekcham leikai, WHUPU Heitupokpi and YDO Heitupokpi Mamang.
