As the government stepped up to control the law and order situation in violence-hit Manipur, the Manipur Police has recovered arms and ammunitions which were snatched from the security forces amid the violence, official sources said on Friday.
Teams of CDO Imphal West District under the supervision of Superintendent of Police, Imphal West District on Friday recovered seven arms along with two magazines and ammunitions and three protective vests which were snatched from the security forces, Additional SP Imphal West (Ops) M Amit told reporters at a press meet held at Imphal West SP office, Imphal.
The arms and ammunitions were recovered from areas of Chingmeirong, Sanjembam and Takhel, the police official said. He said that anyone found with illegal arms/ammunitions will be dealt strongly according to the law.
"If anybody has any illegal arms/ammunitions in their possession, they are requested to contact the nearest police station and deposit it," he said.
Urging all to abide by the law, the Additional SP said that due to the prevailing law and order situation, 'shoot at sight' orders have been issued in extreme cases.

The arms recovered on Friday included the following, according to the Additional SP:
1. Six Sub-Machine Guns 9mm Carbine bearing the following body No.
i) Regd No. LL0161 (Butt No. 153)
i) Regd No. D0931 (Butt No. 104)
ii) Regd No. 9084 (Butt No. 118)
iv) Regd No. 16564518 (Butt No. 132)
v) Regd No. 18494901 and
vi) Regd No. 18494904
2. One magazine of Sub - Machine Gun 9mm Carbine
3. One 5.56 mm INSAS Rifle bearing body no 18483533 FB
4. One 5.56 mm INSAS Rifle magazine
5. Thirty-three (33) 5.56mm INSAS Rifle ammunition and
6. Three protective vests.
