Two villages in Laimaton area have drawn the attention of the government in order to initiate necessary action to prevent communal tension between villages.
According to a joint press statement signed by chairman of Majuron Kabui village and Kokodan Khullen village, some people suspected to be villagers of New Kungpi village constructed a new house in Laimaton area by defying prohibitory orders imposed under section 144of CrPC by DC, Churachandpur since July 20.
“As per the report of the superintendent of police, Bishnupur, chances of breach of peace due to confrontation between two groups of people which may result into open clashes with communal tone in and around Laimaton Hill Range, the deputy commissioner, Churachandpur issued prohibitory orders under section 144 of CrPC along Chachar Road stretching East to West from 36 km to 40 km (below Tupul to Bishnupur Highway) to 2 KM southern side upto Kokodan Khullen Village,” it said.
The prohibitory orders was imposed more particularly within 200 metres radius of area which is in and around the VDF station, it added.
“Despite the existence of the prohibitory orders, some people suspected to be villagers of New Kungpi constructed a new house in the said area against the mandatory being assigned by the government department officials,” it alleged.
While recounting that a confrontation / clash broke out between the villagers of New Kungpi and Majuron Kabui, Kokodan Khullen and Thenjang Villages in 2018 but was pacified due to timely intervention by police, it appealed to authorities to look into the matter and initiate necessary action against the erring villagers in order to prevent communal tension and unwanted incident in the area.
