Manipur: UTRA chief nabbed in Churachandpur district

One Point 22 pistol with seven live rounds, one Chinese hand grenade and a mobile phone were recovered from the apprehended insurgent.

The Churachandpur battalion AR under the aegis of IGAR (South) in a joint operation with 165 Infantry battalion (TA) and Manipur police on Tuesday apprehended the chief of proscribed group United Tribal Revolutionary Army (UTRA) in Dampi village of Churachandpur district, stated a release issued by IGAR (South).

Based on a tip-off, troops of AR and Manipur Terriers along with Manipur police launched an operation which led to the apprehension, it stated.

It stated that one Point 22 pistol with seven live rounds, one Chinese hand grenade and a mobile phone were recovered from the apprehended insurgent.

The apprehended insurgent and the seized items were handed over to Churachandpur police station for further investigation, it added.
